These are guidelines for your orchids, but as with any living organism you are the
best judge to know what your plant needs and when it needs it.
Orchids are beautiful and easy to grow (despite the Urban Myth), most of them
flower once a year and when they do, it could last for up to 2 months (each
specie/plant has a different time frame)

Beginner Level

Cattleya (The 'Corsage Orchid')
Sea level to High elevation
Light: Filtered Light. East, West or South window.
They can be outside during the summer - Indirect
light only - Under shade from a tree is perfect!
Watering: Keep moist but not wet, "drench and dry" is the rule
Feed:  Every other week with half strength balanced liquid fertilizer, only use UREA-
free fertilizers. Make sure the plant is well-watered beforehand, as application of
fertilizer to a dry plant can burn the plant.
Soil: Sphagnum moss or another open mix such as bark with perlite and charcoal
Temperature: 70-85F day / 55-60F Night. Can tolerate 95-100F for short periods of
time, and 40-55F if watering is withheld. If you are comfortable your orchid is
comfortable, extremes must be in small doses.

to a dry plant can burn the plant.
Soil: Pot firmly in bark or lava rock medium. Repot every 2-3 years. Divide if
necessary (4 bulbs on each side minimun)
Temperature: 60-85 F (15-29 C), if you are comfortable your orchid is comfortable
Mature plants need a 15 - 20 degree difference between day/nigth temperatures (days
75-90F - Nights 55-65F) low temperatures nights causes leaf drop.
